Coten End Primary School
Week Beginning 18th November
This week Year 5 have begun dance sessions led by our visiting teacher - Suzanne. They have been using Harry Potter as an inspiration to create dance sequences with a partner to show Harry's excitement at receiving his Hogwarts' letter. Throughout the sessions, the children demonstrated the school value of collaboration in working both as a pair and as a whole class.
In geography this week, the children have been looking at our school value of responsibility. We have looked at some of the tourist hotspots that have sprung up as a result of the film series and how damaging having too many tourists can be to the environment and physical geography of an area. To counterbalance this, the children have also discussed the benefits that tourism can bring to the human geography of an area.
In Re, the children have been exploring our school value of curiosity by considering the massive question: Who was Jesus? The children have been considering who he is according to different world-views as well as reflecting on their own opinions.
Determination has been demonstrated by all as the children completed some assessments in maths. All have focused brilliantly on these and have understood how important they can be for working out what their next steps of learning can be.
Next week we will have our Harry Potter theme day and we already can't wait to see what costumes the children will dress up in.
