Happy New Year!
Everyone in Year 5 have launched themselves with great enthusiasm into our new theme this term: The Truth is Out There.
Our class text this term is Space Explorers: 25 Extraordinary Stories of Space Exploration and Adventure by Libby Jackson. This fascinating book shares real-life stories of bravery, innovation, and adventure in the world of space exploration. It’s already sparked lots of curiosity and thoughtful discussions about what it might take to become an astronaut or scientist working among the stars.
We have also started our learning journey in science by exploring the wonders of our solar system. From dazzling facts about the planets to learning how astronauts survive in space, the children have been completely captivated by the mysteries of the universe.
Creativity is soaring too! Using mixed media, Year 5 have created stunning space-themed artwork that reflects the beauty and vastness of the cosmos. Later this term, we’ll delve into retro futuristic art, imagining what the future might look like while taking inspiration from the past. In DT, we’ll be designing and building our very own moon buggies—a hands-on project that combines creativity, engineering, and problem-solving.
It has been wonderful to see Year 5 settle back into school life so quickly and ready to learn. Their excitement and curiosity are truly infectious, and we’re looking forward to seeing where this term takes us.
