Coten End Primary School
Week Beginning 11th September 2023
Welcome to the Year 3 blog! It has been a fantastic start to the new school year and we have already squeezed in lots of fun and learning. The children have enjoyed reading the wonderful 'Street Beneath our Feet' by Charlotte Guillain and have created some beautiful artwork and writing inspired by it for a display in the USH.
We have also been enjoying our weekly hockey sessions with Mr Butler-Lines and French sessions with Madame Allison, not to mention our first whole-class recorder lesson!
In DT, the children are starting an exciting project in which they will extend their knowledge about mechanisms to design and make their very own dinosaur pop-up book. They were really inspired by Matthew Reinhart's 'Encyclopedia Prehistorica', with all of its incredible pop-up dinosaurs.
Finally, 3FC were the first class to visit Cross Hands Quarry on Friday. We had a great day hunting for fossils in the sunshine and learnt all about how fossils are formed and the different creatures that were living in Warwickshire over 100 million years ago!
