Coten End Primary School
Week Beginning 25.09.23
This week we have been learning about Adrinkra symbols in art and have been thinking about creating our own, ready to make stamps to do some printing. We have also started to use djembe drums to practise African drumming and have continued to enjoy African dancing as part of our weekly PE.
We have also been busy comparing and ordering numbers in maths, and we have been working towards writing a narrative all about zebras in English next week. The children have become highly skilled at describing using adjectives and have made real leaps with applying new and exciting vocabulary.
In science, we have been learning about habitats and this week we went on a hunt outside to discover different microhabitats in our school environment. The children were so excited to go hunting for minibeasts using their magnifying glasses, and carefully revealed different animals lurking around the school grounds. From caterpillars to ants, and even ladybirds, we discovered lots of animals. We discussed the microhabitats they were found living in and what it was about those microhabitats that made them special and suitable for them to live there.
