Pancake Race!
PANCAKE RACE!
On the 20th of February 2024, the house captains of Year 2 and Year 6 and all 3 of the Year 6 classes went to see the Pancake Race. The participants were: The sports ambassadors (from year 6) the House Captains from Year 2 and the House Captains from Year 6. People from Year 2 and Year 6 (and possibly the Year 6 Sport Ambassadors) from the other schools.
We left at 1pm meaning that we had to have lunch early, so we were the first ones called in, after the year 3s though. We also had to go back to our classrooms early too. When we left, there was a chance of rain so we had to wear our coats, BUT IT DIDN’T RAIN, fortunately. On the way, I walked with Emily G and we waved at random people, but they didn’t do anything back.
The short journey, which seemed like a LONG one, lasted 10 minutes. The pancake race was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Warwick and held near to Warwick Library and near to Savers.
First, the Year 2s from our school and the other school went first, but they were cheating! They would drop the pancake, pick it up and run, instead of flipping it. A different school won the Year 2 one. After the Year 2s, there were the Year 6 house captains and after that, were the Sports Ambassadors. Out of the Rubies, Sapphires, Emeralds and Diamonds, Diamonds won and got into the finals!
Finally, it was the diamonds of our school and the other school, and WE WON. Good job Diamonds and well done to the people who did the pancake race.
We got back at around 3pm and when we arrived, we got our hometime stuff, and we read the book “letters from the lighthouse”. That day was really fun, and we enjoyed watching and chanting the school’s name so much that now I’m close to losing my voice, but that day was very enjoyable.
