We have enjoyed starting our brand new learning theme 'Castle Quest this week. This is a new learning theme for Year 2 and we are excited to learn about Castles, especially as Warwick Castle is on our school badge!

In Art, we learnt how to use sketching pencils to shade and looked at how we can use this to create different effects. We then put these skills into action and drew our own self portraits for our front covers. We have now turned ourselves into Kings and Queens by adding a golden crown! We are all very proud of our final pictures.

In English, we looked at the Shakespeare play, 'A Midsummer's Night's Dream'. We enjoyed learning about William Shakespeare and why he is so important in Warwickshire! We wrote our own descriptive writing about Puck's magical journey through the enchanted forest. We used some exciting vocabulary, including expanded noun phrases.

In Maths, we have been learning about Mass and reading scales. We have been solving problems and learning about grams and kilograms. 

In PE, we have started to learn two new games, Cricket and Tennis. We have been practising our ball skills including rolling and under arms throws.
