Coten End Primary School
Week Beginning 30/9/24
This week in Year 1, it has been particularly vibrant and engaging. In our mathematics sessions, we delved into the world of number lines. The children enthusiastically explored concepts of missing numbers, navigating both forwards and backwards from various starting points. It was wonderful to see them gain confidence in their arithmetic skills through this hands-on approach.
In English, we continued our creative journey with our Drawing Club, inspired by Arree Chung's delightful book, Mixed. The children had immense fun writing about colours and the fascinating process of mixing them. They also engaged with language by using the suffix “-est” to explore superlatives, further enriching their vocabulary.
To top off our week, we were thrilled to welcome the talented author and illustrator Sophy Henn on Friday. The children had a fantastic time drawing characters from her enchanting books, allowing their imaginations to run free. It was a delightful opportunity for the children to step into the shoes of an illustrator and connect with the stories uniquely.
Be sure to check out the photographs capturing these memorable moments. It has been another week filled with learning, creativity, and enthusiasm!
