Coten End Primary School
Week Ending Friday 8th November 2024
This week our focus book was Pattan's Pumpkin by Chitra Soundar and the children enjoyed designing the inside of their hollow pumpkin and planning their journeys. The chlidren learned more about the festival of Diwali and what people do to celebrate together. The children also shared some ideas of what they like to celebrate and enjoyed role-playing different celebrations in our role-play area. The children enjoyed creating Mendhi and Rangoli patterns and creating their own design for firework models and also making Diwali lanterns.
In Maths this week, we focused on subitising and representing numbers up to 5 and on finding 1 more and 1 less using stories and songs. We also went on a number hunt in the garden. Our focus value this half term is ‘Kindness’ and we had an assembly about what kindness looks like in our classrooms and on the playground.
