Coten End Primary School
Week Begining 24/02/25
As we welcomed our pupils back for an exciting new term, it was clear that the atmosphere buzzed with energy and enthusiasm. Our new topic, “Get Set, Grow,” aligns perfectly with the first signs of spring, which inspired our inaugural science lesson. The children spoke about the earliest blooms and budding plants, eagerly discussing how nature awakens after winter.
In English, we explored the timeless traditional tale of “Jack and the Beanstalk.” The story sparked creativity as pupils delved into their own writing exercises, where we focused on embedding the use of capital letters and full stops. It was a joy to see their imaginations flourish while reinforcing these essential punctuation skills.
Maths was equally engaging, as we examined the concepts of mass and weight. Armed with various everyday items, students measured and compared their weights, discovering what it means to be heavier or lighter. Using balance scales, they expressed their findings, making connections between mathematical concepts and the world around them.
Overall, the first week back has ignited a passion for learning in our classroom. We look forward to the exciting adventures this term has in store as we continue to grow and learn together!
