Coten End Primary School

Week Beginning 17th March

It has been another exciting week of learning in year 2!

We have been learning about fractions in Maths this week. We have discussed how fractions always show equal parts, and we have been practising finding halves and quarters. We even had one lesson where we cut and folded different shapes into quarters, making sure that each section was the same size.

In English this week, we have been retelling the story of ‘Tiddler’. We have rewritten our own version with our own characters and have really enjoyed adapting the narrative.

In Art this week, we made our own clay sea sculptures which are based on work by the artist Giacometti. We had to mould the clay carefully into the shapes we wanted and used water to stick all of our different parts together.

In Geography, we have been discussing ways to reduce plastic pollution in the oceans, and we designed our own posters to inspire others to reduce, recycle and reuse.
