Coten End Primary School
Friday 21st April 2023
It 's been a very busy week this week and we've had lots to learn. We've started our new topic FLOWER POWER and created our front covers inspired by the art of Henri Matisse who we are learning about this half term. We had to use bright colours and draw organic shapes in the style of Matisse's decoupage (which means cut-out) Artwork.
Yesterday we had a visitor in assembly called Paula Harrison and she's a famous author. We created a story for Red Riding Hood in different settings and with different magical props. Some of us also got our books signed by Paula.
We have been learning about angles in Maths - especiallly RIGHT ANGLES, acute and obtuse angles.
In English we have done lots of reading and have started our new class reader - The Secret Garden. We have also been practising spotting and using prefixes and suffixes. Our favourite suffix is -ous because there's lots of brilliant words like adventurous, outrageous , courageous and furious. What's your favourite -ous word?
In Science we have carried investigating SHADOWS and how they are formed as well as spotting patterns in how they change.
Have a great weekend,
from the Year 3 Children and Staff
